“If I could have but only one herb, it would have to be garlic.” – John Heinerman, medical anthropologist
The versatility, potency and availability make garlic a very powerful herb to get to know.
I’ve been reading into garlic & it’s fascinating! It has strong antiviral & antibacterial powers that, in Heinerman’s book, is said to stand up against any modern antibiotic drug. He goes on to say that whatever conventional antibiotics can do, garlic can do better & safer. Such a bold claim in my opinion! He goes on to explain that bacteria is unable to adapt to garlic’s potency. No wonder it’s been used for thousands of years!
If you’re feeling a cold come on, have a sore throat, a toothache, infection or even looking for a cancer prevention, grab some garlic. When chewed, the important sulfur compounds are released and absorbed into the body.
Here’s an easy recipe to make & have on-hand to take at first sign of cold or flu:
✨ organic, peeled garlic cloves
✨ raw local honey
✨ apple cider vinegar
✨ in a jar place the garlic, cover with honey, add a splash of apple cider vinegar to keep the pH levels where they need to be to avoid growth of harmful spores
✨ loosely add a lid & flip and shake everyday for about 4 weeks, you’ll start to see bubbles (that’s when it’s ready)
✨ eat 1 clove of honey garlic 4 times a day at onset of infection to help reduce symptoms & duration of illness
✨ store in a jar with lid for up to 3 months
✨ you can also use a pH meter to ensure proper level of 4.6 and below before consuming
Let thy food be thy medicine & medicine be thy food ✨🧄
